The Senate returns today to consider nominations, the amended housing package, and appropriations bills.
The House returns today to consider several suspension bills, the amended housing package, and appropriations bills.
House Legislation: On Tuesday, June 23, the House is expected to consider several suspension bills, including, but not limited to, the Emergency Conservation Program Improvement Act of 2025 (S.629) and the Disaster Loan Accountability and Reform Act (H.R.4238).
FY27 Appropriations: The Senate Appropriations Committee is scheduled to hold mark-ups of the bills for Agriculture-FDA, Military Construction-Veterans Affairs, Commerce-Justice-Science, and Legislative Branch on Thursday, June 25. The House will mark-up the Defense bill on Wednesday, June 24 and will reportedly have ready both the Energy & Water and National Security/Dept of State appropriations bills for floor consideration.
Housing Package: The Senate is expected to pass the amended 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act today, Monday, June 22, at approximately 5:30 PM. The House is then anticipated to begin debate as soon as June 23, with a final vote potentially occurring the same day. The amended package will roll back some permitting regulations, provide grants and loans for people to rebuild aging homes, streamline environmental reviews, and restrict large investors from buying new single-family homes, among other things.
Farm Bill: The Senate Agriculture Committee is expected to release its version of the Farm Bill on Tuesday, June 23, with a mark-up to occur during the July work period. After the House passed its version of the farm bill (H.R.7567) in April, action in the Senate stalled over several policy disagreements, including Democrats’ push for a delay in the implementation of state cost-sharing requirements for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that is set to start next year.
NDAA: The House is set to consider its version of the $1.15 trillion NDAA before breaking for the July 4 district work period. House Republican leaders are planning to hold NDAA debate the week of June 29.
