FY 2026 Landmarks of American History and Culture and Summer Institutes
WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of this program is to support humanities education through professional development for K-12 teachers and higher education faculty members. Landmarks and Institutes are residential professional development programs that convene higher education faculty or K-12 educators from across the nation to deepen their understanding of significant topics in the humanities and enrich their capacity for effective scholarship and teaching. An Institute may engage any topic in the humanities. A Landmarks project must incorporate place-based approaches to humanities teaching and situate the study of topics and themes within sites, areas, or regions of historic and cultural significance for the United States and its jurisdictions. WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Eligible applicants include state or local governments or one of their agencies, nonprofit organizations recognized as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, accredited institutions of higher education (public or nonprofit), and federally recognized Native American Tribal Governments.
TOTAL FUNDING AMOUNT? $7 million
WHEN IS IT DUE? December 9, 2026
National Fish and Wildlife Foundation
FY 2027 Acres for America
WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of this program is to provide urgently needed funding for projects that will permanently conserve large-scale habitats for fish, wildlife, and plants through voluntary land acquisitions and perpetual conservation easements. Click here for more information.
WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Eligible applicants include non-profit 501(c) organizations, state government agencies, local governments, municipal governments, Tribal governments and organizations, and educational institutions.
TOTAL FUNDING AMOUNT? $4 million
WHEN IS IT DUE? October 19, 2026 (Pre-Proposal); December 2, 2026 (Full Proposal)
