This vital Special District Fairness and Accessiblity Act will clarify the role and purpose of special districts across the Country by defining Special Districts in Federal law for the first time. Special districts will have a seat at the table in policy development and legislation in Washington DC.
Thank you to our early leaders: Senators John Cornyn (R-TX) and Jeff Merkley (D-OR) introduced the Special District Fairness and Accessibility Act in June 2025.
NSDA proudly hit the road in May to meet with over 30 Congressional Offices to push for co-sponsorship and support for H.R.2766, and to support an introduction in the Senate. We are excited to announce bipartisan H.R. 2766 has been introduced by Congressmember Pat Fallon (R-TX) and Co-lead Brittany Pettersen (D-CO) and the Congressional process has started!
