This is your weekly grant opportunities update from The National Special Districts Association. Special districts are either eligible to apply directly, or able to partner with a qualifying entity to apply for any of the grants listed.
Department of the Interior
FY 2025 BLM Youth Conservation Corps – Bureau Wide
- What it funds:
- Hands-on work experience in public lands and natural resources management
- Conservation-related career exposure for youth (16–30) and veterans (up to 35), including tribal members
- Who’s eligible:
- State, county, city or township governments
- Public and state-controlled colleges and universities
- Federally recognized tribal governments and tribal organizations
- Nonprofits (with or without 501(c)(3) status)
- Private institutions of higher education
- Note: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Montana/Dakotas, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Headquarters, the National Interagency Fire Center, and the National Operations Center will not accept applications
- Total funding: $900,000
- Deadline: August 8, 2025
Department of Transportation
FY 2025 Commercial Driver’s License Program Implementation Grant (CDLPI)
- What it funds:
- Financial assistance for states and eligible partners to carry out and improve the national CDL program
- Who’s eligible:
- State, county, city or township governments
- Federally recognized tribal governments
- Public/state-controlled colleges and universities
- 501(c)(3) nonprofits
- Private institutions of higher education
- For-profit organizations and small businesses
- Hispanic-serving institutions, HBCUs, TCCUs, and Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions
- Total funding: $89.4 million
- Deadline: July 7, 2025
Department of Veterans Affairs
FY 2026 Legal Services for Homeless Veterans and Veterans At-Risk for Homelessness (LSV-H)
- What it funds:
- Legal services (eviction defense, housing stability support) for veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
- Who’s eligible:
- Public and nonprofit entities (local or state governments, federally recognized tribal governments) with the capacity to manage and deliver legal projects
- Total funding: $42 million
- Deadline: July 7, 2025
National Endowment for the Arts
FY 2026 Grants for Arts Projects 2
- What it funds:
- Project-based support for public engagement with the arts, arts education, arts-integrated health and well-being strategies, and capacity building in the arts sector
- Who’s eligible:
- State and local governments
- Nonprofit organizations
- Federally recognized tribes or tribal communities
- Total funding: Up to $30 million
- Deadline: July 29, 2025
